Last night, President Donald Trump held a campaign-style rally in Arizona. His speech was basically an aggressive attack on the media and some of his other critics. He reiterated his claim that the press is dishonest and defended his comments that “both sides” are to blame for the violence in Charlottesville. He also claimed that there were no protesters at his rally, even though police had to break up protesters outside with tear gas.

“They are trying to take away our history and our heritage,” he said, referring to the media. The president also implied that he would pardon former Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who is awaiting sentencing after being convicted of unlawfully targeting Hispanic people during immigration enforcement. “I won’t do it tonight because I don’t want to cause any controversy, okay? But Sheriff Joe can feel good,” Trump said. Bizarrely, he also called out President Barack Obama for not condemning radical Islamic terrorism. Former national intelligence director James Clapper called the speech disturbing, scary, and said that Trump is mentally unfit to be president.
